41 years in the trade. One standard of work.

Waterproofing, stucco, and plaster craftsmanship for the Bay Area — built on diagnosis first, repair second.

Rick Fogg · Owner & Principal

The owner bids the job, and the owner stands behind it.

Rick Fogg has spent 41 years in the waterproofing and plaster trades, and has run Fogg Construction for more than two decades. He has worked alongside architects, designers, owners’ representatives, and property owners to deliver each project’s intended outcome — with special care for detail, schedule, and budget.

Fogg Construction was founded in 2004 and is based in Petaluma, serving San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, and Alameda. The work spans four interlocking specialties — and the value is that they live under one roof, with one contractor accountable from diagnosis through finished wall.

Four Core Specialties

Where the expertise runs deepest.

Stucco waterproofing barriers

Stucco sheds water; the barrier system behind it keeps the building dry. Rick builds moisture barriers, lath, and plaster as one integrated assembly — combining traditional plaster components with modern flashing techniques so the wall manages water the way it was always supposed to.

Moisture-infiltration consulting

Water rarely shows up where it gets in. Four decades of reading building envelopes lets Rick trace a ceiling stain back to a parapet, or a damp wall back to a flashing failure six feet away — so the repair money goes where the water actually enters, not where the symptom appears.

Custom texture matching

Texture innovation and matching, in both cementitious and acrylic systems, is a defining specialty. Rick reads an existing finish — its aggregate, application method, and sequence — and reproduces it so repairs and additions blend invisibly into the original wall.

Interior Venetian plaster

Hand-troweled, burnished Venetian plaster is unforgiving of inexperience — every trowel mark shows. From feature walls to whole-house applications like the Skyfarm residence in Santa Rosa, Rick delivers smooth, colored, polished finishes with depth no paint can reproduce.

★★★★★
“They were fantastic! The owner came out himself to bid the job, threw in some stucco patchwork that was needed outside of the immediate area to be fixed. The crew was on time, worked quickly, and didn’t leave any debris behind (cleaned up the area perfectly). Not the cheapest, not the most expensive either, but the expertise and skill was evident and I couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend Fogg.”
